I love the look of it in your bathroom. Is there ever a problem with it cracking? What do you use to clean it? Very interesting - thanks for sharing.Charla
Love it....what about a how-to post!
The counter looks fabulous. So pretty. I love floors that are stained and polished also, they look so pretty and are so cool to the touch. Such a great look. Hugs, Marty
O.K.... I love that sink!!!! I love concrete too, but man, I do love that sink!! Lucky girl, talk soon Chrissy
I love your bathroom!!! It's so beautiful! ♥ Diane
Hey Girlfriend...I love the look of concrete! Your bathroom counter is beautiful! So ya'll did this yourselves? I have considered doing the concrete countertops in our kitchen when we remodel. It's so durable and so versatile...so much you can do with it!!! And as you mentioned...very affordable!!! If I had my way, I would even do pretty stained concrete floors throughout the living area of my house! My Sis and her husband just built a cabin in the Texas hill country...they kept all the flooring concrete and stained it..it's gorgeous! She said it's perfect for that warm climate...it keeps cool!!! So happy for you and your new concrete bath countertop!!!Love ya,Chari
you did this yourself? OMG it's gorgeous! We've poured over the Fu-Tung Chen concrete books for a couple years but haven't felt the confidence to DIY yet. PLEASE PLEASE tell how you did this. IT is LOVELY.
OMGI'd never heard of it but it looks beautiful! What a great idea!
I'm with MMW. I want to hear more about how you did this.
My son in law did the counter for me. He googled, " how to pour concrete counters" and poured it in our barn. We did not put it in the house until it was acid stained. Not much $$$ or much labor involved. He is now building a house and has the confidence to do his own kitchen and powder room. If you are interested in trying it I say, "do it", you can always pour another one if the first one does'nt suit you...it is only concrete.
I was just about to say - please do a How-to post and then I looked up and noticed your comment. I think that I really like it in your bathroom. Did you put a sealer on it, too? ~ Robyn
very cool, my new office has concrete floors...my husband is going to stain them and then seal them...I'm really excited..
Looks great in your bathroom -- will be curious to hear how it wears and how easy it is to keep clean -- but a lovely alternative to some of the more costly options
* Personally, I ADORED it from the minute it came out! I LIKE that it's DIFFERENT from the norm, but I heard recently on TV that it can NOW cost MORE than grantie!!! ~~~ CAN THAT BE?????? Either way, I think it's terriffic, Vicky! Looks mahhhhhvelous!!!!!Hugs,Linda *
Wow... The counter looks just great. I have been hesitant to tear up all of the carpet and was thinking about replacing it with wood flooring or laminate. Our budget won't allow it for now. So, I am inspired to do this, one room at a time. And use some nice area rugs here and there. We just moved to the southwest and the 'cool' flooring won't be a problem. I'm sure you would prep it like we did the garage floor. Visit here for more info: http://www.acidstainflooring.com/Acid_Stain_Concrete_Flooring.html
Linda, the labor is what cost so much. I also hear it is about the same as grantie, but my sil said it was easy to do. If you do it yourself it is dirt cheap.
The stain color on your sink is beautiful. What color? Brand? Sealer? Oh, I wouldn't think of having a contractor do it. The website above has some wonderful ideas on designs to incorporate onto the floor. I was thiniking a person could use border stencils a few short inches from the baseboard all the way around. Just a thought. The possibilities are endless. Thanks for the visit!Blessings,Linda
Very unique Vicky my friend. Now fess-up, don't keep us in suspense and tell us how it is exactly done as many of us wud like to know. Right ladies? Smiles 'n hugs -Brenda-
I am telling you all I know ! My sil did it ! I told him a dark brown stain and yes, it does have a sealer on it. I don't know what he used. When he does his, I will post them with more info.
Okay...I'm patient but I am going to hold you to that. :)
Wow! Love the color and edge detail of your counters. We have done our own concrete floors in two homes so far! I actually do it myself, as you have to be "random" with the stain, we use Kemiko brand stain and wax, a California company. Can't wait to dive into some counter tops, maybe the next house?!How hard ( on a scale of 1 to 10) was it to make the molds?
Interesting look. I wonder if you can easily DIY with a recessed sink?
