It's kinda off but appealing nonetheless...fiddlehead ferns? ....think the ribbon pillows need to be changed.
I have to be honest. I think it's a bit of a mess. Several components have merit, but together they are not playing in tune. At least to my ears.
Not a room where I would want to retreat to at night but it's not awful, just too busy for me.
not the least bit restful or calming...in fact is seems rather frenetic.
The whole room makes me anxious. Why? Because there is the fern theme in 3 different styles. The pictures on the wall are hung oddly, at least to me. Everything on it's own is fine, just not together. --Delors
YUCK...TOO MUCH FOR ME, I'D HATE TO BE PREGNANT AND SICK IN THERE! ALL THOSE FERN THING MAKE ME FEEL CREEPY-CRAWLY! OOPS..I'M TOO OUT SPOKEN, HOPE I DIDN'T HURT ANY ONES FEELINGS! :D
The questis, where did you get the photo from? If from a big designer ,then people would say ,oh so inventive. Or from a book that said not to do tnis. I was watching a show thatn had a new designer that made a dress with large pockets on the hips. She got eleminated for said dress. The next day a big designer was showing his new season and ,on a dress was the big pockets. My point is, is the idea wrong or the way it is carried out is wrong? Kathy
Ok, so I am trying to type this while in bed! heh Kathy
Seems rather chaotic to me...disjointed and none of the pieces speak to one another. I couldn't live in that room.
You're teasing us! This is the BEFORE photo, right?
First thought seriously???? Seahorses line dancing
I like each item on its own. Put together, it's a bit much. If the walls were a solid blue, the room would still be fun, but it wouldn't give me the spins.
I feel like this is a room that I would have seen in a magazine like Domino. And everyone would say, "Oh, it's brilliant." And I would be thinking, "It looks like a mess. I don't get it."
I don't care for the room.If it belonged to my sister or a dear friend, & captured their personality, I would love the room.Pure grace how that happens.Garden & Be Well, XO Tara
Gorgeous headboard.Wallpaper is a bit busy for me.Needs more spaced out art.Love the drapes.Lovely color palette.
This room makes my chest tight! I could never relax in a room like this.
Some parts work together beautifully - taken in twos and threes - (pillows plus tablescape for example or tablescape plus headboard) but others clash (pillows plus headboard) -- they have no common elements. Just need to prioritize, then edit out and bring in a few different parts.
I do like the color palate ... but not all of the different patterns.
I love the side table and I think the shape of the headboard/footboard is great. Not so fond of the fabrics and wallpaper designs or the odd placement of the art. And the pillows are just out in left field!!!Overall, I'm not a fan. Please, please, please don't tell us this is your bedroom tomorrow!!!!Rhonda
Love the wall paper. Love the mirrored side table. Love the bed. Just not all in the same room. And wth is up with that dumb art work set up?
Love the wallpaper, love the headboard, and I think they work well together but the rest of it has to go. Ok, the curtain panels (shortened)and the lamp and the rug can stay, but the rest belongs in two or three different rooms. Reminds me of a college kid's first apartment and they've just thrown together whatever stuff they had plus what mom and grandma dug out of their basements. All pretty things just not pretty together.
I would absolutely be okay with this room if just three things were edited out. The picture of the girl, the rainbow pillow and the vase in the lavendar shade. Also I would move the fern artwork to the right. Then, I would absolutely adore the color palette. --Lili
certainly not my style, I agree with "artis1111" if it were a designer everyone would love it, well, everyone but me.
Take away that portrait painting on the wall --- why with all those ferns happening do they add this as well???Weird.
I don't get it and I don't like it. It doesn't fit any trend, it isn't any particular style. I sometimes think that some "decorators" try too hard to be different. In this case, it clearly doesn't work. Separately, some of the pieces are not bad, but there is no rhyme or reason to any of it.
I know some people like that kind of thing, but I would not have it in my house. Hugs, Cindy S.
If feel 'Kathy' (the Artist) "hit the nail on the head". If this were a top-designer room odds are there would be oooooos 'n ahhhhhs by some. There are elements I do like. For example the Headboard; namely the way it is upholstered though not particularly fond of the fabric. In a nutshell, I'm afraid for my personal taste and regardless if it were the work of a top famous Interior Designer it wud be 'two thumbs down'. Just call me a rebel. SMILES -Brenda-
I think this may be my favorite "Something to talk about Post." I agreed with everyone! I wish I had labeled where I got this photo. I think it was from "Domino", Amber B called that one! My first thought was, as stated, "Weird." So busy and with the scale and the placement of the art...Blue Creek, Your comment made me laugh. No way would I design a room like this one. I think it is as Anon said, a case of someone trying too hard! I agree that the colors are nice, but artis 111 was spot on, if the right designer did it , it must be great, right?
...not worth a penny..
I think I'm disagreeing with the majority of people commenting. I like this room but only to stay in for a weekend at a hotel or on vacation. I couldn't come home to it every day. So glad I found your blog. I just love it.Gwen DriscollRagland Hill Social
I could not get comfortable in this room. It's too busy.
The first thing that I noticed is the scale of the lamp and table are way too small and the art work is also small and misplaced. I find the headboard interesting the wallpaper a bit busy with the headboard. Just my thoughts for what they are worth. Kathysue
I agree with Gwen...I could enjoy this room in say a boutique hotel for a night or two. But a long term relationship...no way. There are many beautiful elements, but others I do not care for.
Where are the real plants and flowers?
It makes me anxious. The "art" and the pillows, uuuggghhh. I'm with Ann, it makes my chest tight.
I think there are too many patterns. Removing the lavender striped striped bolsters and changing them to a dark solid color...the darkest color in the fern in the headboard....might be an improvement.
I liked the bed combined with the style of the lamp and side table...all other elements look out of place to me.
My first thought was - what a great headboard and footboard! My second thought was - I would make it a real focal point of the room with darker walls and spread, very different pillows in a brown and tan design. Yes the art work has to go, carpet, wall paper, table, and too small of a lamp. This could be a beautiful room. As it is I would find it too jarring.
